Professional removal is best, but here's what to do if you must remove them yourself safely.

Please Consider Professional Removal First

I always recommend professional removal because it protects your natural lashes. However, I understand that sometimes DIY removal is unavoidable. If that's your situation, here's the safest way to do it — and what NOT to do.

What NOT to Do (Seriously!)

  • Don't pick or pull: This is the #1 cause of natural lash damage. Even if a few extensions feel loose, pulling them will damage your lashes.
  • Don't use harsh chemicals: Nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, or acetone can burn your eyes and skin.
  • Don't use tweezers to pluck: You'll pull out natural lashes along with extensions.
  • Don't use scissors near your eyes: Extremely dangerous.

Safe DIY Removal Method

You'll need:

  • Lash extension remover solution (oil-based, from beauty supply stores)
  • Microfiber pads or cotton pads
  • A clean mascara spoolie
  • Gentle eye makeup cleanser

Steps:

  1. Cleanse first: Wash your face and remove any makeup or oil from the lash line.
  2. Apply remover: Saturate a pad with lash extension remover and place it gently on your closed eyelid for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Let it sit: The remover needs time to break down the adhesive. Patience is key.
  4. Gently wipe: Use a light downward motion with the pad. Don't rub or pull.
  5. Repeat if needed: Some extensions may need another application.
  6. Clean thoroughly: Wash your lash line with gentle cleanser and water.
  7. Moisturise: Apply a light, oil-free eye cream to calm the area.

Important Safety Notes

  • Patch test first: Test the remover on a small area to check for sensitivity.
  • Keep remover away from eyes: If it gets in your eye, rinse immediately with water.
  • Go slow: Patience prevents damage. Take 20-30 minutes if needed.
  • Rest your lashes: After removal, skip extensions for 2-4 weeks to let your natural lashes recover.

What If Your Natural Lashes Get Damaged?

If you notice breakage, thinning, or lashes falling out after removal, don't panic. Natural lashes regrow in 6-8 weeks. In the meantime:

  • Skip extensions entirely
  • Use a nourishing lash serum or castor oil at bedtime
  • Avoid mascara and heavy eye makeup
  • Be extra gentle when washing your face

Professional Removal Takes 15 Minutes. For peace of mind and natural lash protection, professional removal is always the best choice. I can safely remove your extensions in about 15 minutes.
