You Can Exercise — With Smart Timing
Absolutely, you can exercise with lash extensions! But timing matters. The key is avoiding intense sweating and water exposure during the first 24-48 hours after your appointment, when the glue is still curing.
Timing Your Workout
- First 24-48 hours after appointment: Skip intense cardio and swimming. Light walking is fine, but save the gym sessions for later.
- After the curing period: You're good to go! Cardio, strength training, yoga, pilates — all safe.
Managing Sweat
Sweat itself won't damage your lashes, but:
- Don't wipe your face: Rubbing sweat away can pull at your lashes. Use a headband to keep sweat off your eyes.
- Bring a clean towel: Dab around (not on) your eyes with a soft cloth if needed.
- Avoid hair in your face: Pull your hair back to prevent it from brushing across your lashes.
Swimming & Water Exposure
After 48 hours, swimming is safe. However:
- Chlorine: Weakens adhesive over time. Rinse your lashes with fresh water after swimming.
- Salt water: Can also weaken adhesive. Splash your face with fresh water post-swim.
- Hot tubs/saunas: Steam and heat weaken glue. Avoid these in the first week.
Post-Workout Aftercare
- Rinse your face gently with lukewarm water (not hot) to remove sweat and salt.
- Pat dry gently, avoiding the lash line.
- Brush your lashes with a clean spoolie to separate them if they've gotten wet.
- Avoid eye makeup immediately after a sweaty workout — let your skin breathe.
Sports-Specific Tips
- Running/Jogging: Headband to catch sweat, back hair.
- Yoga/Pilates: Great for lashes! Just avoid rubbing your eyes during stretches.
- Swimming: Safe after 48 hours; rinse afterward.
- Strength training: Keep headbands handy; avoid heavy eye pressure during planks.
